NAD+ is a shortened name for the co-enzyme nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide. This important molecule is involved in transferring energy from the foods we eat to vital cell functions. It has a unique ability to protect tissues, induce DNA repair, and increase life span. Additionally it is necessary in the formation of ATP, the energy molecule of life. Several years ago, Dr. Munk was able to receive training in NAD+ IV therapy directly from the leading experts in the field, Dr. Richard Mestayer and Paula Norris of Springfield Wellness Center in Louisiana. Since that time he has treated hundreds of patients with BR+NAD. BR+NAD is the most pure and active form of NAD+ available. Since his original training, Dr. Munk has remained active in the NAD+ treatment community and has also attended annual conferences to learn about new and emerging treatment strategies to optimize success with this powerful and life changing tool.
Desert Ketamine Clinic offers BR+NAD in a variety of forms:
Intravenous (IV) Infusions. This is where a small catheter is placed in your vein and the NAD+ is delivered directly into your bloodstream. This produces the most profound and immediate effect. It is administered along with a bag of normal saline. Infusions can last anywhere from 1-6 hours depending on the conditions being treated. Typically patients will have a series of infusions grouped fairly closely together over the course of a week or two. Detox patients may have daily infusions for 7-10 days. Following the successful improvement of symptoms, patients would then return as needed for single “booster” infusions.
Subcutaneous Injections. This is a quick injection of a small dose of NAD+ into the tissue just below your skin. It can be given in the back of the arm, abdomen, or flank. This allows for slow absorption into the bloodstream over the course of several hours. Typically patients will have this administered at a quick 15 minute clinic visit. It may also be administered to detox patients after finishing an IV infusion to prolong the delivery of NAD+ to the body for and additional several hours after the infusion has ended.
Sublingual Tablets. Desert Ketamine Clinic uses Real NAD+ and Myetin sublingual tablets made by Avior Nutritionals, originators of BR+NAD. Tablets are placed under the tongue and are slowly absorbed over 10 minutes via the highly vascular mucous membranes. Sublingual administration acts to decrease passage of the NAD+ through the GI tract where much of it is removed by the liver before it can enter your bloodstream. This form of NAD+ is recommended as an easy way to have daily dosing from home. It serves as a maintenance program in between “booster” infusions.
Oral BR+NAD. For some patients who prefer oral tablets over sublingual, we offer BR+NAD for home use.
Transdermal BR+NAD Patches. These patches are used by our detox patients as a way to continue BR+NAD administration via a trans-dermal absorption route. This is a 12 hour delivery patch that can be applied in the evening prior to bedtime and removed after awakening in the morning.
